Merida: La Noche Blanca

Last weekend Merida hosted a huge “open house” in El Centro (the historic district) with multiple gallery shows, concerts, discounted meals in restaurants, etc. I’m old and attended only a little around Santa Ana park. SOHO Gallery is always my first stop, a video presentation at Nahualli, Casa de los Artistas, trova at Remate de Paseo de Montejo (which has my favorite stand where a local couple sell amazing pies – I had a Mexican version of pecan pie (pay de nuez) which ain’t Georgia but it is good), a would-be Dixieland jazz band in the park Sta. Ana with smoke, lighting & digital screen. All in all, fun; if only I had the energy to keep going until 2am there was more to do…

The newly lighted Christmas tree at the foot of the Paseo de Montejo. T’is the season…La Noche Blanca will soon be NocheBuena (Christmas Eve); Hanukah sooner.
